AI Automation Readiness Checklist
Use this checklist before starting any AI automation project. If you can answer “yes” to most of these, you’re in an excellent position.
Process Readiness
- Can you describe the process in steps? If it’s hard to write down, it’s hard to automate.
- Does it happen the same way most of the time? Highly variable processes need workflow standardization first.
- Is the input data digital? Paper-based inputs need digitization before automation.
- Can you define “done”? Automation needs a clear success state.
Data Readiness
- Is your data in one place (or few places)? Scattered, siloed data increases integration complexity.
- Is your data reasonably clean and consistent? Garbage in, garbage out.
- Do you have 3+ months of historical data? Needed for AI systems that learn patterns.
Organizational Readiness
- Does leadership support this? Without executive buy-in, adoption fails.
- Is your team willing to change how they work? Resistance kills automation ROI.
- Do you have someone to own the system post-launch? Every automated system needs a human owner.
